The Mythical Beauty Of The Sea Replicated In Modern Furniture

Although water covers a huge part of our planet, we are still baffled by everything that happens deep in the abyss of the oceans. But while we may not be able to yet understand everything that’s happening down there, we have found a way to bring that mystery into our homes in the form of furniture. DesignerChristopher Duffypoetically captured all that beauty with a sculptural piece known as the Abyss Table.Greg Klassenalso found a way to hypnotize us with gorgeous designs featuring a combination of wood and glass.

Both artists experimented with glass in similar ways. The Abyss Table is is hand made of sustainable materials and is limited to an edition of 25. The designer used sculpted glass and wood to create a 3D representation of a geological map. He became fascinated with glass when he noticed how the material darkens as you add more layers to it and decided to use this feature in his new creation.

Greg Klassen found inspiration in the landscape and decided to translate the natural beauty into the River Collection. It’s a series of handcrafted tables that feature embedded glass rivers. Each piece is one-of-a-kind and feature the same combination of materials as the Abyss Table but in a rather different way. Both designers managed to create functional art and impressed the world with their creative tables.
